With a background in events and marketing, Jasmine Aisthrope sought the opportunity to work in a more hands-on creative industry.
“I’ve always been drawn to Interior Design, so tried my hand at night school first to test the waters. I absolutely loved it, so I threw myself in head first and haven’t looked back since.”
Jasmine studied a Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration at TAFE SA. Having studied Event Management at TAFE previously, Jasmine said she returned to TAFE because she enjoyed the practical and tangible method of study.
“I don’t just want to sit in a classroom and be talked to, I want to get out there and learn,” Jasmine explains.
“TAFE class sizes are smaller, so you get more attention with your work and you also get a lot more practical knowledge. We have the opportunity to get out there and see businesses operating, and meet suppliers, which is fantastic.
“We also had past students come in and sharing their experiences, and hearing about them now excelling in the industry gives us great confidence in knowing what can be achieved with our study.”
Jasmine believes that the new Tonsley TAFE campus will offer students an interactive learning experience.
“The new Tonsley TAFE campus will be an interactive place of learning. The collaboration between all of the different building industries will provide fantastic experience for students because that’s what it is going to be like in the real world.
“To have all the industries in the one space learning and feeding off each other will be a great opportunity.”
