Destination Australia Scholarship Round 5:
Domestic Students

The Destination Australia Scholarship is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment. The program is designed to provide scholarships for domestic and international students, to study and live, in regional Australia.

Opportunity

In 2024, TAFE SA is offering five scholarships to eligible students wishing to study the Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management  (099074G / CRS1400588) over three years, commencing in Semester 2, 2024. Applications close 14 June, 2024.

Selection process

  • Written applications will be reviewed and shortlisted by a Selection Committee.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a short interview (over the phone or in person).
  • Successful applicants will be contacted by TAFE SA and notified of the enrolment process.

TAFE SA reserves the right to close the application dates early if all sponsorship places have been filled.

      Scholarship value: AU$45,000 (AU$7,500 per semester)
      Length of scholarship: 3 years
      Number of scholarships available: 5

      Close Date: 14 June, 2024 or until all Scholarships have been allocated

    • Eligible Course Details

      Course: Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Managemenent (099074G/CRS1400588)
      Location: TAFE SA Barossa Campus,Old  Kapunda Road, Nuriootpa, South Australia 5355

      Course duration: 3 years
      Fees: Fees: AU$13,076 per annum*, plus incidental fees such as text books between $1200* to $2,000* (* fees are correct as of 22 November 2023 and are subject to change each year).
      Total degree cost is AU$39,226

      Intake: July 2024
      Study mode: Full-time, face-to-face (2 days per week)

    • Eligibility Criteria and Rules

      • You must be a student commencing a new course of study with TAFE SA and commence study in July 2024.
      • Students must supply their own laptops for use during the course.
      • You must study on a full-time basis for the duration of the course at the TAFE SA Barossa Valley Campus.
      • You must maintain ongoing residency in an approved regional location for the duration of the scholarship.
      •  You will need to live in the region:
        •  (The main townships in the Barossa Valley region include Nuriootpa, Angaston, and Tanunda, all eligible locations. Please note Gawler is not-considered regional and not an eligible area for this scholarship.)
      • No deferrals within the scholarship period are allowed without forfeiting your scholarship.
      • You must meet and adhere to the scholarship’s eligibility criteria and rules for the whole scholarship duration to receive ongoing payments.
      • TAFE SA will pay scholarship recipients AU$ 7,500 per semester, provided they continue to meet the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
      • Successful students must pay their tuition fees as per the invoice terms.
      • All tuition fees are payable each semester in advance. Scholarship instalments are payable to students within four weeks of each semester commencing, provided the students have paid their tuition fees, continue to reside in an approved regional area and adhere to attendance and course progress requirements.

       

    • Payment of Scholarship

      Successful applicants must provide their banking details to TAFE SA for payment to occur. Scholarship payment instalments will be processed within four weeks of the commencement of classes each semester.

    • Sponsor Details

      Through the Department of Education, the Australian Government funds the Destination Australia scholarship program to offer students from Australia and overseas the opportunity to undertake high-quality education, training and research whilst experiencing regional and rural Australia.

    • Terms and Conditions

      TAFE SA reserves the right to close the scholarship applications early should we receive sufficient applications.
      TAFE SA reserves the right to amend the terms, conditions, and eligibility criteria at its discretion.
