Staff Profile: Scott McLennan
Scott McLennan has been an entertainment journalist since the early 2000s, when he ditched a promising career in the Australian Federal Police in favour of completing a Master of Arts (Journalism) degree. The head of the journalism school told him he’d never find employment as an entertainment journalist. The head of the journalism school was wrong. Scott spent a decade with Rip It Up Publishing, editing a number of magazine titles and interviewing iconic rock acts (Ozzy Osbourne, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns N’ Roses), comedy greats (Barry Humphries, Simon Pegg, Russell Brand) and contemporary chart stars (Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kasabian). A knack for eking fresh revelations from his subjects has ensured his interviews have popped up in numerous biographies and on music sites around the world. Scott is currently balancing his freelance journalism projects with a contract tenure as an SA Water media adviser. His music interviews and reviews are published weekly in News Limited’s commuter newspaper mX, which prints more than 350,000 copies daily in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
