The Film and Television program offered at AC Arts equips students with comprehensive production and post-production skills required in today’s screen industry. Our training focuses on specific crew roles for on-set & location-based productions via current industry practices.
Courses in film and television at AC Arts equip graduates in:
- Pre-production: management including budgeting and scheduling, contracts and location management
- Production: including creative and technical skilling across several roles such as camera, lighting and sound recording
- Post-production: editing including technical and creative skills regarding telling the story with images and sound design, editing and mixing.
The film and television industry requires individuals who are able to think creatively as individuals and in groups, who enjoy research and problem solving, who have patience and are thorough. Screen production relies heavily on people who can maintain a strong work ethic in difficult circumstances either with the team or on their own.
AC Arts has dedicated industry-standard digital production equipment including cameras, lights and sound-recording gear and accessories, a portable television studio with video and audio mixing, and a professional sound recording studio and mixing facilities. Post-production facilities include dedicated editing suites of iMac & G5 computers with industry-standard software suited to film and television pre- and post-production.
Facilities are regularly upgraded and refitted in line with current trends and workflow practices. Also, the equipment to student ratio is high, maximising the time each student has access to practice and hone their skills. Our graduates are ready and skilled in current industry practices using up-to-date equipment, which minimises obstacles to the student in their move into industry.
Our graduates are employable in all stages of production and creation of media content with film, TV, and video-production houses, special effects companies, game production studios and mobile phone content developers.
This creative industry involves the ideas and creative positions of script writers, producers, directors, animators and editors. Opportunities in the creative craft departments of production, art and design, camera, lighting, sound and editing are ideally suited to graduates of AC Arts’ film and television and creative media courses.
