NAIDOC Week

During NAIDOC week, a morning tea was held by TAFE SA staff at the Port Pirie campus, with a round table discussion on the 2019 theme, ‘Voice. Treaty. Truth.’

This theme signifies the three key elements the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart, representing the unified position of First Nations Australians.

“The true story of colonisation must be told, must be heard, must be acknowledged.” (National NAIDOC Committee)

2019 is also the United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages, and so we pay respect to the diverse languages and cultures of Australia’s First Nations.

Consider these facts:

  • The Indigenous voice of this country is over 65,000 plus years old.
  • They were the first words spoken on this continent.
  • Languages passed down lore, culture and knowledge for over millennia.
  • They are precious to our nation.
