TAFE SA has partnered with the Local Government Association to provide a package of courses to support the development of South Australia’s 9000-strong local government workforce.

LGA President Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg officially launched the training collaboration at the LGA’s Ordinary General Meeting in Adelaide on Friday 21 April.

The courses have been customised for councils, using case studies applicable to their workplace.

Topics include Project Management, Business and Administration, Customer Service, Compliance, Arts and Design and Information Technology.

TAFE SA business lecturer Anne Tonkin, who has overseen the program’s development, said both face-to-face and online training options will be offered, in both Adelaide and regional centres.

“We can tailor our training so that it is really relevant, valid and applicable for people working in councils,” she said.

“TAFE SA is really proud of this collaboration because a highly-skilled local government workforce is great for all our communities.”
