Please note: the word ‘Aboriginal’ throughout this website refers to all people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
TAFE SA’s Aboriginal Access Centre (AAC) provides support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The AAC offers a variety of programs through many TAFE SA sites, including regional and remote locations.
The AAC can also assist with enrolments into a wide range of other programs in TAFE SA.
When you take part in AAC programs, a Training Support Officer (TSO) is assigned to you for the duration of your course. Your TSO will help you develop a learning plan that maps your education pathway. The TSO also acts as your link to lecturers and other sources of support.
Tutors can be assigned to help Aboriginal students who are enrolled in an accredited TAFE SA course. You may be eligible for a tutor while studying for a Certificate III or higher. To apply for a tutor, print and fill out this application form and return it to Aboriginal Access Centre, Regency Campus, 137 Days Rd, Regency Park SA 5010.
If you’re interested in helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by becoming a tutor, please complete and return the tutor registration form
You might also be eligible for help with some or all of your TAFE SA fees. To apply for this assistance, speak with your TSO and complete the AAC Equity Grant form.

TAFE SA will be hosting a range of activities across the state as part of National Reconciliation Week 2018 (27 May-3 June), commencing at Regency Campus on Monday 28 May 2018.
Our speakers are in keeping with this year’s NRW18 theme - Don’t Keep History a Mystery – and will include presentations from Aboriginal staff and students and South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy graduates. A BBQ lunch and Smoking Ceremony also a part of the day’s activities.
We invite all TAFE SA students to Learn, Share and Grow – by exploring our past, learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, and developing a deeper understanding of our national story. We encourage all TAFE SA staff and students to get involved in a range of events, which are being held across our campuses and in the community, during National Reconciliation Week and to take the opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal history, culture and reconciliation.
We encourage our staff and students to share photos from the week by tagging @tafesa and using the hashtag #nrw18.
Below is a list of events being held across TAFE SA campuses throughout the week:
