TAFE SA’s well-known hospitality training is offering a university-equivalent qualification in 2017 with its new Bachelor of Hospitality Management.
It supersedes a Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) previously offered at TAFE SA.
Enrolments are open for the three-year degree at the Regency International Centre, home to TAFE SA’s specialist commercial cookery and hospitality training facilities, including TIROS restaurant, a brewery and Australia’s only cheese making academy.
TAFE SA’s Director of Hospitality, Tourism and Creative Arts Belinda McPherson said the new Bachelor program differs from other hospitality qualifications because of its specific focus on strategic planning, finance, marketing, international human resource management and business ethics.
She said the course content is excellent for those seeking employment in hotel and restaurant management and other entrepreneurial hospitality ventures.
“The course combines the best of TAFE SA’s hands-on hospitality training with a comprehensive university-level program in management and leadership, equipping students with the skills they need to achieve success in the industry,” Ms McPherson said.
Adelaide-based food entrepreneur and TAFE SA Bachelor of Hospitality graduate Heather Day credits her industry success to the higher education level of learning in the Bachelor degree.
The 2016 Masterchef top-10 finalist and owner of Hey Day Butter said the qualification gave her credibility in the industry and confidence in the workplace.
“My career successes are due to knowing that I had the underpinning knowledge needed to make an impact and be a leader,” Ms Day said.
“Studying at TAFE SA doesn’t just get you job ready, it gets you life ready. Without this education, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
TAFE SA’s Bachelor of Hospitality Management (CRS1400418) is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).
