The solar car team is building TAFE SA's new generation solar car

2015 SolarSpirit

TAFE SA has a very successful track record in the World Solar Challenge since 2000. With the latest technology available, the solar car team has built the new entry through student projects integrated with their curriculum work.
A team of TAFE SA Electrical, Electronic, Auto and Mechanical Engineering students designed and produced the solar car "TAFE SA Solar Spirit" and have run the car in the 2011, 2013, 2015 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge events which run from Darwin to Adelaide in October.

Our students work with the most current components and materials available, maximising their educational outcomes.

As the sole South Australian entrant from the Vocational Education sector, TAFE SA Solar Spirit travels 3000 kilometres from Darwin to Adelaide using power from the sun, competing against teams from around the world. Check their progress at the Solar Car blog during race seasons.

The team has a brand new exciting vehicle under construction for 2017.
