World Solar Challenge

2015 SolarSpirit

TAFE SA has a very successful track record in the World Solar Challenge since 2000. With the latest technology available, the solar car team has built the new entry through student projects and voluntary time.
A team of TAFE SA Electrical, Electronic, Auto and Mechanical Engineering students and staff designed and produced the solar vehicles, "SAV" and "Solar Spirit" and have competed successfully in the 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017  Bridgestone World Solar Challenge events which run from Darwin to Adelaide in October.

Our students work with the most current components and materials available, maximising their educational outcomes.

As the sole South Australian entrant from the Vocational Education sector, the TAFE SA crew travels 3000 kilometres from Darwin to Adelaide using power from the sun, competing against teams from around the world.
