Harmony Week is always a fantastic demonstration that EVERYONE BELONGS across the AMEP at TAFE SA. Every class celebrates the wonderful cultural diversity of our students.

At the Salisbury Campus, classes walked over to the Salisbury Hub to enjoy the full day celebration sponsored by the Salisbury Council. Performances included didgeridoo playing, an Italian band, a ukulele group, Filipino dancing, Pakistani music and African drumming.
The TAFE SA Salisbury Library created a colourful display and invited students to decorate a paper person. These were placed around campus holding hands and showed we can live in peace and harmony though we come from many different lands.
Class 603 students decorated their people with national costumes and colours and some even added accessories!
In the Chinese Community Classes 830 and 836, delivered online, students celebrated Harmony Day virtually, but still just as much together. Students wore orange and brought orange items to share onscreen when learning via Black Board Collaborate (BBC). They also shared these beautiful photos and artwork in their community WeChat group.
Kate Smith from the Volunteer Tutor Scheme has been volunteering with the Chinese Community classes for 3 years now, even during the pandemic lockdowns. Lecturer Chen Chen says “Kate is a great assistance for group work and students love to have her in class.”

Harmony week is from Monday 21st March to 25th March in 2022. Because of COVID-19, my class celebrated it online this year.
In the class we learned that Australia is home to people from more than 300 different cultural backgrounds. Here we learn from each other and respect each other.
We watched a lovely BTN video on Harmony Week with Chinese subtitles.
My classmates also showed their beautiful drawings, photos, paper cuts and other artworks on Harmony Week.
I am so happy that I live in a friendly society with friends from different countries.
