    Course Admission Requirements (for International Applications)

    • Academic IELTS score of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent.
    • Satisfactory completion of Year 10 or overseas equivalent.

    Work Placement Duration:  965 hours

    Students will complete 965 hours of work placement commencing in their 1st semester and continuing through their final semester of the course. Students will undertake their placement at the TAFE SA Salon on campus. Students may, if they wish, do their work placement with a salon in the community (which students would need to arrange themselves).

    Employment Outcomes

    Courses cover a range of skills and techniques in cutting, styling and colouring hair, while working in an industry-standard salon setting on a TAFE SA campus. Qualifications in hairdressing prepare graduates for either an apprenticeship or position providing assistance within a hair and beauty salon.

    Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

    Qualifications & Skills Covered

    Certificate III in Hairdressing
    You will learn how to cut, colour, chemically reform and style your client's hair. You will also learn about client communication and service which includes discussing the needs of your client and styling according to their requirements. 26 core units plus 6 electives.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full Qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
