    Employment Outcomes

    There are a many prospects available for graduates in these areas including the opportunity to work in veterinary practices, pet shops, boarding kennels, animal welfare organisations, and in the biomedical area. The Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing is the national qualification for Veterinary Nurses. The Diploma of Animal Technology provides graduates with opportunities to work in biotechnical research and production, teaching facilities, zoos and wildlife parks.

    Qualifications & Skills Covered

    Certificate III in Animal Technology
    12 core units: Work within an animal technology facility; Carry out institution containment and exclusion procedures; Prepare for and monitor anaesthesia in animals; Conduct non-surgical procedures on animals; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Provide enrichment for animals; Plan for and provide nutritional requirements for animals; Carry out simple breeding procedures; Contribute to OHS processes; Provide basic care of rodents and rabbits; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Perform aseptic techniques; plus 6 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
