Employment Outcomes

There is increased public awareness of health and fitness issues leading to a growth in fitness club membership. Courses in this area cover anatomy and physiology, fitness programming, client service, fitness evaluation and use of fitness equipment. Graduates would be able to seek work in leisure centres and health and fitness centres as fitness instructors.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Qualifications & Skills Covered

Certificate III in Fitness
Basic exercise science; anatomy and physiology principles, healthy eating guidelines; health screening and assessment; quality client service; exercise considerations for special populations, instructing and monitoring fitness programs; working effectively in sport and recreation environments; occupational health and safety and risk analysis; and using and maintaining fitness equipment. Fitness instruction to include gym instructor with options to undertake group exercise instruction and aqua instruction.

Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
