  • A satisfactory police check will be required at the expense of the student prior to commencing a vocational work placement or gaining employment.

Expected Employment Outcome Example

This qualification applies to community work delivered through a broad range of service which provide support to individuals and groups and is appropriate for support workers, case workers and client contact officers. Generally these positions have direct contact with clients, identify presenting needs and refer to appropriate services and support.
Occupational titles may include: client contact; community care worker, neighbourhood centre worker.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Skills Covered

Certificate III in Community Services Work
8 core units including: work within the administration protocols of the organisation; work within a community development framework; communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues; provide first point of contact; work effectively in the community sector; participate in networks; participate effectively in the work environment; plus 5 electives.

Successful completion of this course provides you with the:

Certificate III in Community Services Work (CHC30108)

Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Application Selection

Award - SATAC application process

  • Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
  • Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees

In July 2012 the South Australian Government will be introducing the Skills For All policy initiative. Skills For All may impact the eligibility and funding arrangements for government subsidised vocational education and training in South Australia. As a direct result of this initiative, TAFE SA will reassess all student fees prior to Semester 2, 2012. This may result in some student fees decreasing whilst others may increase.
