  • TAFE SA can recognise the skills (RPL) you already have. If you are not able to take time off work to study, TAFE SA will provide any additional training to you while you are on the job, and at your workplace/worksite.
  • The duration of a workplace course is determined by the study plan.

Course Admission Requirements

  • You must be working in a related industry and provide evidence of this when you enrol.

Course Notes

  • A satisfactory police check will be required at the expense of the student prior to commencing a vocational work placement or gaining employment.

Employment Outcomes

This qualification addresses work in the community and/or residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans. These workers: Carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people with a disability; Carry out activities related to an individualised plan; Report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Qualifications & Skills Covered

Certificate III in Disability
10 core units: work effectively in the community sector; work effectively with people with a disability; maintain an environment to empower people with disabilities; support community participation and inclusion; contribute to skill development and maintenance; provide support to meet personal care needs; participate in the implementation of individualised plans; support individual health and emotional well being; provide behaviour support in the context of individualised plans; plus 4 elective units.

Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
