- A satisfactory police check and/or DECS criminal history screening will be required at the expense of the student prior to commencing a vocational work placement or gaining employment. All students are required to complete vocational placements (unless currently employed in an appropriate setting) and be assessed in the workplace.
Expected Employment Outcome Example
This qualification covers workers who use organisation policies, procedures and individual children's profiles to plan activities and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes. Depending on the setting, workers may work under direct supervision or autonomously. Possible job roles include child care assistant, playgroup supervisor, family day care worker, child care worker, nanny, and mobile assistant.
Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

11 core units: identify and respond to children and young people at risk; ensure the health and safety of children; provide care for children; contribute to provision of nutritionally balanced food in a safe and hygienic manner; work within a relevant legal and ethical framework; support the development of children; interact effectively with children; provide experiences to support children's play and learning; develop understanding of children's interests and developmental needs; apply first aid; contribute to OHS processes; plus 4 electives.

- Applications for the 2012 Intake must be made through the centralised TAFE Admissions system via SATAC (South Australian
Tertiary Admissions Centre) by the advertised date.
- Applicants can make one application for up to six course preferences.

Fees
In July 2012 the South Australian Government will be introducing the Skills For All policy initiative.
Skills For All may impact the eligibility and funding arrangements for government subsidised vocational education and training in South Australia.
As a direct result of this initiative, TAFE SA will reassess all student fees prior to Semester 2, 2012. This may result in some student fees decreasing whilst others may increase.
