Certificate IV in Racing (Jockey)
26 core units: Apply first aid; Communicate in the workplace; Comply with the rules of racing and related protocols; Manage personal health and fitness; Follow OHS procedures and observe environmental work practices; Achieve requirements for industry induction; Handle horses; Assist with transportation of horses; Perform basic riding tasks; Develop riding skills for flatwork; Perform stable duties; Attend horses at trackwork; Attend horses at race meetings and trials; Identify factors that affect racehorse performance; Develop basic trackwork riding skills; Exercise horses in pacework; Prepare for self-management in racing; Ride horses at trackwork; Ride horses in jump outs; Educate thoroughbred horses for racing; Prepare for race riding; Ride horses in trials; Ride horses in races; Participate in protests, inquiries and appeals; Manage principles of sports science for jockeys; Deal with conflict; plus 3 electives.
Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
