Employment Outcomes

This course has been designed to provide students with an in-depth level of knowledge and skills that can be practically applied in a wide variety of occupations across the Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Tourism industries. Graduates of this course may gain employment as a: Sea Kayak Instructor; Advanced Bushwalking Guide; Lead Climb Instructor; Outdoor Education Coordinator (eg National Parks; Outdoor Recreation Program Planner (eg Schools, Aquatic Centres; Adventure Tour Guide; Adventure Tourism Events Manager; or Recreation Project Officer.

Skills Covered

Packaged Program in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism
Double Certificate:
Coordinating and operating tours; following OH&S procedures; developing knowledge of the tourism and outdoor recreation sectors of the industry; leading tour groups; navigation; preparation of tour commentaries; risk management; working as an adventure guide; working with customers and clients' bushwalking in a variety of remote and special location with South Australia and Victoria; Opportunity to specialise in an area of your choice which may include Kayaking or Rock climbing.
Double Diploma: Conducting interpretation within an outdoor activity; coordinating facilities; designing and facilitating adventure-based learning programs; equipment acquisition and maintenance; ethics; interpreting weather conditions in the field; managing projects and risk management; natural resource management; navigating in remote or trackless areas in extreme environmental conditions; OH&S fundamentals; promoting compliance with laws and legal principles; providing leadership in the workplace; search and rescue and snow touring. Students also continue with their chosen specialisation.
