The TAFE SA Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Technology qualification provides students with skills and knowledge in a broad range of information technologies that are associated with employment of professional staff within the Information Technology and Communications (ICT) industry.
This qualification provides students with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in a broad range of areas including:

  • Network Management with a focus on the CISCO CCNA Certification, an introduction to Network Security and Windows Server Administration.
  • Software Development with a focus on mobile application development with a Windows Mobile development subject with C# and an Android mobile development subject with Java.
  • Website Development with a focus on using HTML5, JavaScript and PHP to develop dynamic web pages, and mobile website development.

This course provides an opportunity for people who are currently employment in the ICT industry and have vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior network support roles or applications development to obtain a higher level qualification.  Additionally, students who already obtained a Certificate IV in Information Technology are able to further their skills and knowledge by undertaking the Advanced Diploma.

Students will learn the fundamental elements of the information technology industry and utilise emerging technologies in computer systems, hardware and software. This course also has linkage to internationally recognised vendor certifications such as CISCO CCNA.

Information Technology Educational Manager, Frank Annese says, ‘Due to developments in new technologies, the employment prospects in ICT are predicted to increase over the next 5 years. This course will educate and provide hands on experience for students to pursue employment in the ICT areas of Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Software and Applications Developer, Web Programmer, Database Developer and Web Development Support.”

TAFE SA offers this qualification at the Adelaide City campus and has student intakes into this course twice a year in January and July.  Students can apply for the course directly through the TAFE SA website.

This course is funded by Skills for All, a South Australian Government initiative and eligibility criteria’s may apply. Students may be required to complete some underpinning skills and knowledge prior to commencing this qualification at an additional cost.
