TAFE SA Mechanical Diploma graduates, Simon Marschall and Matt Petiet, (both currently studying the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Design at Panorama campus) were integral in the design and delivery of the London Olympics cauldron project.

Both used their mechanical design and 3D CAD skills to contribute to the design of the burners, gas valve trains and piping  systems installed at the stadium. Simon travelled to the UK to oversee the assembly of the FCT burner systems into the burner stems and to ensure other FCT gas equipment was integrated smoothly into the cauldron structure, assembled by others.

Matt has travelled to Singapore and Qatar with FCT as part of the Singapore Youth Olympics and  Pan Arab games cauldron projects. TAFE SA provided these two FCT employees with the skills to contribute to major flames effects witnessed by billions of people world wide.
