Saturday - Scrutineering at Darwin

by Mark Ready | Oct 07, 2013
Our passage through the scrutineering process and timing laps and practise has been hard work but successful and we will be on the start grid in about 11hrs at Darwin Parliament House.

A huge storm late arvo on Thursday quickly changed the shape of our Darwin camp but overall the weather has been kind; 36deg, 90% humidity, only one day of bush fires up to the edge of Hidden Valley Motorsports track.

The young drivers and a few crew went to the Chief Ministers reception at Parliament House Fri night. A fitting tribute and welcome  by the minister for all the competing crews. Particular respect and welcome to the overseas teams.

Saturday morning was the assembly of all crews and vehicles at Hidden Valley for media appointment then timing trials for grid positions. SolarSpirit did the loop in 2:44 min, a very neat time. The very fastest vehicle did 2:04 min.
