L Plates cooking classesWant to learn how to make your own pasta, dissect and prepare a whole chicken, or create a chocolate dessert that will make your friends gasp?

Who better to teach you than some of the State’s finest chefs and other food legends, guiding you every step of the way as mentors for this year’s L Plates cooking classes.

The Advertiser, in conjunction with TAFE SA’s Regency International Centre and the Tasting Australia festival, has pulled together an A-list of kitchen practitioners for the classes on Saturday, May 2.
The line-up includes Jock Zonfrillo and his team from The Advertiser Restaurant of the Year Orana; the wild and wonderful Duncan Welgemoed, chef of Africola; national treasure Cheong Liew; long-time chef of Italian favourite Chianti Classico Tobias Gush; and Huong Ngo and Jennifer Luong, the mum and daughter team behind Vietnamese gem Nghi Ngan Quan.

L Plates differ from many other cooking classes because participants work in small groups and are encouraged to learn new skills by preparing the food themselves. Chefs will demonstrate each dish and then lend a hand where necessary.

At $69, the three-hour sessions are also kept as affordable as possible - and there is always something delicious to eat or take home at the end.

The L Plates classes, part of Regency International Centre’s Gastronomic Adventures program, will be held on Saturday 2 May. Book your tickets online.
