Gastronomic Adventures Begin

Adelaide personality Michael Angelakis launched TAFE SA’s brand new food program, Gastronomic Adventures at Regency International Centre, Regency Campus.

The Regency Gastronomic Adventures is an exciting new food program showcasing TAFE SA’s finest food lecturers and South Australia’s culinary talents offering gourmet short courses. Included in the mix are hands on classes for beginners and professionals, interactive ‘master’ cooking and patisserie demonstrations, kids kitchen sessions, mash brewing classes and multiple smallgoods sessions, including artisan cheese and bread making.

Classes are run at TAFE SA’s Regency International Centre, a world-class facility that delivers training in cookery, hospitality management, patisserie, bakery, butchery, tourism and food processing. The Centre has a state-of-the-art brewery, an Artisan Cheese Making facility, coffee academy and a winery.

TAFE SA’s Programs and Services Director, Madeleine Frost says the program has been designed for people who love food. It features the latest food trends, well-known chefs, and Regency’s own fantastic, highly skilled staff.

‘This program offers people an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the state’s best culinary talents. You can choose from interactive cooking presentations, tastings, master classes, or intensive short courses. There is something for everyone.’

Gastronomic Adventures program highlights are:

Grange wine tasting – Take a journey of discovery and education on South Australia’s world famous Grange wine, in a series “Flight of Vintages” carefully matched with Regency-produced menus of divine balance to complement the star of the show. A grand finale dinner will feature a “flight” of famed 90’s vintage Grange wines.

Cheese Sensory - Enjoy the experience of making cheese in our Artisan Cheese Academy with The Academy’s Head Cheese Maker, Gina Graham. You will inoculate the milk, cut the curd and see the cheese evolve. During the day, you will make a range of soft, blue and hard cheeses.

The Kids Kitchen - a series of cooking and hospitality classes for kids aged 4 – 16 years. Taught by professional chefs, the kids hands on cooking classes range from Asian, French and Italian cuisine and sweet and savoury dishes.

L Plates - Proudly run in conjunction with The Advertiser, the L-Plates classes are taught by some of Adelaide’s finest chefs and foodies. In small, hands-on classes you will learn kitchen secrets and shortcuts as they take you step-by-step through some of their favourite dishes. Sessions include seafood master class with TV and culinary personality Michael Angelakis and rice secrets with legendary chef Cheong Liew.
