Regency International Centre and the Sport and Recreation program at Regency Campus have been busy this week helping to host cycling teams in Adelaide for the Tour Down Under.
TAFE SA Educational Manager and Consul of Belgium in Adelaide, Heidi Van Gerwen, hosted a private barbeque function for 30 riders who had the opportunity to relax and enjoy South Australia before the big cycling event.
“As well as an informal barbeque at the Consulate, the riders were joined by Minister Kenyon - and visited Port Adelaide, saw sea lions and dolphins and went fishing with Port Adelaide Mayor Gary Johanson.”
Educational Manager Stan Szczypiorski transported the teams and hospitality support was provided by Jen Rodger, Madeleine Frost and Tony Adey.
The food and drinks are supplied by the Consulate and wines were sponsored by Anvers Wine.
The Belgian Consulate hosted the event for all Belgian riders from any team and included Thomas De Gendt, Jurgen Roelandts and Gert Steegmans. Belgian team members included the Australian rider Adam Hansen and German Andre Greipel. Also responsible for Luxembourg residents, the Consulate also hosted Andy Schleck and Didier Laurent.
