On 13 December 2012 a graduation ceremony was held for 80 students from the English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) unit.
Graduates represented a diverse range of countries including, Hong Kong , Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Italy and Greece. Students were enrolled in numerous courses ranging from English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and IELTS Preparation class to Pre-Intermediate/Intermediate and Upper Intermediate.
The ceremony enabled graduates to display their grasp of the English language by presenting individual and group songs, plays and video presentations.
The majority of graduates gained adequate English skills and IELTS scores to either enter the workforce, commence their chosen award course at TAFE SA in 2013, or qualify for their desired course at University.
The award courses that graduates have enrolled in at TAFE SA include Horticulture, Nursing, Accounting, Automotive Technology, Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, Bakery and Business.
The English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) program has been designed for international students who require English language training before commencing formal studies in Australia. ELICOS programs are open to everyone, including people who are in Australia on a tourist or visitor visa and people who want to develop their English skills for their own personal reasons.
