Apr 03, 2014

TAFE SA student Larissa Pegler is currently studying the horticulture course at TAFE SA Mount Gambier CampusThe horticulture industry in Mount Gambier is set to grow this year with a range of newly trained graduates from TAFE SA.

With courses running each term, the region is expecting an increase of over 30 graduates this year adding to the state’s Horticulture industry which currently employs 11,000 people.

The Certificate II in Horticulture which is a priority course in South Australia is available fee-free* to participants through the state Government’s Skills for All initiative.

TAFE SA Horticulture Lecturer Ms Joley Didwell said the 10 week course which runs 3 days per week is a fantastic opportunity for local residents.

“This course gives people an opportunity to gain industry-specific training which opens the door to employment in the horticulture industry,” said Ms Didwell.

“The course is particularly attractive to self-interest learners who love working outdoors.”

Interested people are encouraged to attend an Information Session being held at Bunning’s Mount Gambier Store, Corner of Jubilee Highway West and O'Leary Road, on Saturday 12 April at 11am.

Every adult participant at the information session will get a FREE herb plant.
