Student Projects

Grey water recycling

Tony de Mizio and Ben Norrish

This project focused on designing and implementing a prototype of a grey water recycling system. The students looked at separating the clean from the grey water by using sensing devices and distributing the water to its appropriate storage tank. It is based on a 68HC11 development board (code written in C).

Telemetry system for the TAFE SA solar car

Anton Couzens

The purpose of the telemetry system is to transmit the solar car's technical status to a laptop based in the accompanying vehicle through a wireless link, based on a PIC development board connected to an Xbee device. The project includes the design of the communication link as well as the graphical user interface (code written using VB Express).

Highway traffic logger (sponsored by DSTO)

Stephen Lower and Ian Tiggemann

The purpose of this project was to design and build an embedded system with sensing devices, which logs information such as speed, length and image of vehicles passing on a highway. It is based on an ATMEL-USB development board and includes the development of data acquisition software and the graphical user interface (code written using C++).

Renewable energy data logger

Gert van Diermen

This project focused on designing and implementing a data logger for Regency Campus's Renewable Energy Centre. The system captures the solar panels' electrical characteristics and sends them for processing to an embedded PC. Its prototype is based on a 68HC11 development board (code written in C).

Portable stereo amplifier

John Light

The purpose of this project was to build a portable stereo amplifier with a user friendly interface. It is based on a 68HC11 development board, with an LCD-based user interface (code written in C).
