TAFE SA supports The Big Issue Lunch

Jul 27, 2015

Big Issue Cheese Outing-7562TAFE SA supported this year’s Big Issue Lunch, donating a selection of artisan cheese, including cheddar, blue and triple cream, produced in its Artisan Cheese Making Academy.

TAFE SA Director of Tourism, Hospitality and Creative Arts, Ms Madeleine Frost said supporting this year’s Big Issue Lunch is an honour and an important cause for South Australia’s disadvantaged.

“The Big Issue is a fantastic organisation which is making a real difference to people’s lives,”

“TAFE SA is proud to be involved in supporting this year’s lunch through the donation of our artisan cheese which has been hand-made by our dedicated and passionate lecturing staff and Academy graduate, Caleigh Hunt”. she said.

Celebrity chefs Simon Bryant, Lloyd Cremer, Bree May and Callum Hann, who will cook this year’s lunch, visited the Artisan Cheese Making Academy at TAFE SA’s Regency campus earlier this month to help lecturer and resident cheese-maker Gina Dal Santo make some of the donated cheese.

TAFE SA Lecturer, Gina Dal Santo said she was delighted to offer her time and expertise to such an important cause and fundraiser.

“It is such a wonderful opportunity to be involved in this year’s Big Issue Lunch and give something back to the community, particularly to those people most in need.” she said.

Now in its fifth year, The Big Lunch was held on Sunday, July 26, at the Adelaide Central Market, with 300 guests seated at long tables running between the market stalls. The menu will feature fresh produce from the market and the hand-made cheese from the Artisan Cheese Making Academy.
