Located at the Regency campus, the internationally recognised Regency International Centre is a Lead Centre for Hospitality, Food and Recreation with studies available in commercial cookery, food and beverage service, events and hospitality management, meat retail, bakery and pastry cooking, patisserie, community recreation, fitness, outdoor recreation and sports coaching. It also operates in conjunction with two well-know international organisations, the International College of Hotel Management and Le Cordon Bleu.

Programs including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, refrigeration and air-conditioning, plumbing, metal fabrication, and vocational preparation including English as a second language, and community services programs for international students are also available at this campus. Also located at the Regency campus is the Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence which showcases a range of skills and technologies for the renewable, sustainable and demand-side energy management industry.

TAFE SA graduate wins La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Young Chef Competition

Emily_Laubsch-Chaine_Rot_Chef_Awarads_1st_June_2015TAFE SA graduate, Emily Laubsch of the Barossa Valley, has won the national finals of the La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Young Chef Competition.

Emily, who completed her Diploma of Patisserie and Hospitality Management at TAFE SA in 2011, said being selected to compete at the nationals was a fantastic experience and winning was just icing on the cake.

“Competing against some of the best young chefs across Australia was a daunting experience as the competitors worked at a very high level. Entering this competition definitely made me strive for perfection and to be the best I possibly could be,”

“Winning has proven that hard work really does pay off and it has given me the determination to continue to work hard, follow my passion and become the best I can be in my chosen field,” she said.

Held in May at Le Cordon Bleu in North Ryde in Sydney, the La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Young Chef Competition offers young chefs the opportunity to demonstrate their culinary skills in a competitive environment with their peers as well as showcase their talent and creativity on the national and international stage.

Emily will go on to compete at the international final which will be held on 19 September in Budapest, Hungary.

TAFE SA Hospitality Lecturer, Luke Montgomery said Emily was an excellent student, who was always focussed and eager to learn new skills and knowledge about the industry.

“Since graduating from TAFE SA, Emily has gone on to work at award winning restaurants, including Appellation and now, Hentley Farm in Seppeltsfield,”

“I wish her all the best at the international final in Budapest, I know she will make Australia proud,” he said.
