TAFE SA Solar Spirit car
Redarc sponsorship for 5 years
South Australian electronics company Redarc has signed a five year sponsorship agreement with TAFE SA. The agreement will see Redarc become the major sponsor of the TAFE SA Solar Spirit car which has competed in the Challenge since 2000.
The TAFE SA Solar Spirit car is now the only remaining South Australian competitor in the annual Challenge which sees solar cars from across the world race from Darwin to Adelaide – a distance of 3,000 kilometres.
This year, the car’s design has evolved to ensure it meets the new World Solar Challenge specifications (Technical Regulations 2013) and can be built at the lowest cost using technology available to the wider community.
TAFE SA Senior Educational Manager Greg Bassani said Redarc’s sponsorship of TAFE SA Solar Spirit car aligns perfectly with TAFE SA’s push into delivering training which supports more sustainable and environmentally responsible practices within industry.
“The solar and renewal energy industries continue to grow and an increasing number of our Electrical, Electronics and Engineering students are finding employment within these sectors.
“This is also true in the building and construction sector where cleaner, green technology is being incorporated into building projects.” Said Mr Bassani.
TAFE SA and Redarc have enjoyed a solid relationship over many years with TAFE SA having provided extensive training in electronic engineering for Redarc’s workforce.
Good luck racers!
