TAFE SA recognises the numerous demands that will face you as a student, and offers many courses with flexible delivery, where you are not locked into classes at particular times or locations. This provides you with a range of options to give you access to what, when, and where you learn, and enables you to study partly or, in some cases completely, off campus. These options can include the following.
On campus
Most TAFE SA courses are offered on campus.
Distance education
If you are geographically isolated, you can study from home or a local community facility. Distance education, or external study, is fully supported with materials, resources and tutor contact. In some cases you may be required to attend an agreed location for assessment purposes.
Self-paced packages
Self-paced packages are specially designed to enable you to work at your own pace. These packages are often supplemented with videotapes or audiotapes and contain examples, activities, review tests and assessments. They may be provided to off campus learners or used on campus.
Workplace training
This option enables you to learn in your workplace with customised training materials and a workplace mentor or adviser for support. Assessment is also conducted in the workplace.
Online delivery
Online delivery enables you to access learning materials with a computer, CD-ROMs and the internet. You can communicate with staff and other students using email, bulletins and online chat.
Video conferences
Video conferencing allows you to attend a convenient campus location and participate in a class through a video link-up at another campus near you without the expense of time and travel to more distant campuses.
Each campus may offer different strategies or a different combination of strategies, so contact your campus before you apply to find out the methods of flexible delivery that will be used for the course(s) you are interested in.
